What is ‘Stewardship’ all about?

Disher’s Definition of Stewardship:

Stewardship – being responsible with all the resources we have been given . . . for us and for the world around us.

Stewardship comes in many forms and meanings for every individual that participates.  Here at Disher, in just the last 12 calendar months, our team has contributed more than 1,912 hours making a positive difference.

It is such a blessing that our company supports these efforts by allowing every employee to spend up to two weeks a year making a positive difference in the community and the world around us.

For me personally I just can’t get enough.  I’ve been on two mission trips to the Dominican Republic, two trips to the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota, have packed food for Feed My Starving Children, picked up trash for Adopt–a-Highway, packed Thanksgiving boxes for the Holland Rescue Mission and tiled some flooring for them, helped with painting and other projects for Habitat for Humanity, and painted at Children’s Advocacy Center.

Now, I’m getting ready for another mission trip to help fix homes for the Appalachian Service Project in Tennessee in just a few weeks.  All of that and more in just the last 3 years here at Disher for me.

It feels so good being able to help others in need and so amazing that in today’s world of self-absorption and busyness that you can find a company like Disher that actually practices what it believes in.  It’s what puts “pride” back into your life when you can tell others that you work for a company that just doesn’t think about itself.
